Stede ‘The Gentleman Pirate’ Bonnet was an 18th century landowner in Barbados who became a pirate under the tutelage of Blackbeard. He is potentially the only pirate captain of the period to have bought his ship, rather than stolen it. He was not particularly successful as a pirate, but he had a great flag.
